Understanding the New Jersey EBT Card

The New Jersey EBT Card functions similarly to a debit or credit card, loaded with food stamps and/or cash benefits. It's accepted at authorized stores. Upon approval for benefits, you'll receive this card. For assistance, contact New Jersey's EBT customer service at 1-800-997-3333.

Applying for Food Stamps

The most straightforward method to apply for food stamps is online through the NJOneApp portal. Alternatively, you can apply in person by reaching out to your local County Board of Social Services or calling the New Jersey SNAP hotline at 1-800-687-9512.

Renewing Your Food Stamps

It's crucial to renew your food stamps before your certification period ends, which typically ranges from 6 to 12 months for most New Jersey households. Confirm your specific certification period with your caseworker.

EBT Deposit Schedule

Benefits are distributed over the first five calendar days of the month, based on the 7th digit of your case number. For example, if the 7th digit is 1 or 2, benefits are available on the 1st of the month.

Reporting Changes

To report changes such as income adjustments, household size, or address updates, contact your local County Board of Social Services or call the New Jersey SNAP hotline at 1-800-687-9512.

Replacing a Lost or Stolen EBT Card

If your EBT card is lost or stolen, immediately call the New Jersey EBT customer service at 1-800-997-3333 to report it and request a replacement.

Additional Benefits

Beyond SNAP, New Jersey offers programs like WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) and TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). For more information on these programs and to determine eligibility, visit the New Jersey Department of Human Services.
