Managing Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) information can be challenging. Here is a guide from Benny to help!

Understanding the Alabama EBT Card

The Alabama EBT card functions similarly to a debit or credit card, loaded with food stamps and/or cash benefits. It's accepted at authorized stores. Upon approval for benefits, you'll receive this card. For assistance, contact Alabama's EBT customer service at 1-800-997-8888.

Applying for Food Stamps

The most straightforward method to apply for food stamps is online through the MyDHR portal. Alternatively, you can apply in person by reaching out to your local office or calling the Alabama SNAP hotline at 1-334-242-1700.

Renewing Your Food Stamps

It's crucial to renew your food stamps before your certification period ends, which typically ranges from 6 to 12 months for most Alabama households. Confirm your specific certification period with your caseworker.

EBT Deposit Schedule

Benefits are distributed between the 4th and 23rd of each month, determined by the last two digits of your case number. For example, if your case number ends in 00-04, benefits are available on the 4th of the month.

Reporting Changes

To report changes such as income adjustments, household size, or address updates, contact your local office or call the Alabama SNAP hotline at 1-334-242-1700.

Replacing a Lost or Stolen EBT Card

If your EBT card is lost or stolen, immediately call the Alabama EBT customer service at 1-800-997-8888 to report it and request a replacement.

Additional Benefits

Beyond SNAP, Alabama offers programs like WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) and TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). For more information on these programs and to determine eligibility, visit the Alabama Department of Human Resources.
