Managing Michigan's Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) system can be complex. To assist, here's an overview:

Understanding the Bridge Card

The Bridge Card functions similarly to a debit or credit card, loaded with food stamps and/or cash benefits. It's accepted at authorized stores. Upon approval for benefits, you'll receive this card. For assistance, contact Michigan's EBT customer service at 1-888-678-8914.

Applying for Food Stamps

The most straightforward method to apply for food stamps is online through the MI Bridges portal. Alternatively, you can apply in person by reaching out to your local Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) office or calling the Michigan SNAP hotline at 1-855-275-6424.

Renewing Your Food Stamps

It's crucial to renew your food stamps before your certification period ends, which typically ranges from 6 to 12 months for most Michigan households. Confirm your specific certification period with your caseworker.

EBT Deposit Schedule

Benefits are distributed between the 3rd and 21st of each month, determined by the last digit of your recipient ID number. For example, if your ID ends in 0, benefits are available on the 3rd of the month.

Reporting Changes

To report changes such as income adjustments, household size, or address updates, contact your local DHHS office or call the Michigan SNAP hotline at 1-855-275-6424.

Replacing a Lost or Stolen EBT Card

If your EBT card is lost or stolen, immediately call the Michigan EBT customer service at 1-888-678-8914 to report it and request a replacement.

Additional Benefits

Beyond SNAP, Michigan offers programs like WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) and TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). For more information on these programs and to determine eligibility, visit the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
