Navigating Montana's Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system can be complex. To assist, here's an overview:

Understanding the Montana Access Card
The Montana Access Card functions similarly to a debit or credit card, loaded with food stamps and/or cash benefits. It's accepted at authorized stores. Upon approval for benefits, you'll receive this card. For assistance, contact Montana's EBT customer service at 1-866-850-1556.
Applying for Food Stamps
The most straightforward method to apply for food stamps is online through the Apply.mt.gov portal. Alternatively, you can apply in person by reaching out to your local Office of Public Assistance or calling the Montana SNAP hotline at 1-888-706-1535.
Renewing Your Food Stamps
It's crucial to renew your food stamps before your certification period ends, which typically ranges from 6 to 12 months for most Montana households. Confirm your specific certification period with your caseworker.
EBT Deposit Schedule
Benefits are distributed between the 2nd and 6th of each month, determined by the last digit of your SNAP eligibility system (TEAMS) case number. For example, if your case number ends in 0 or 1, benefits are available on the 2nd of the month.
Reporting Changes
To report changes such as income adjustments, household size, or address updates, contact your caseworker or call the Montana SNAP hotline at 1-888-706-1535.
Replacing a Lost or Stolen EBT Card
If your EBT card is lost or stolen, immediately call the Montana EBT customer service at 1-866-850-1556 to report it and request a replacement.
Additional Benefits
Beyond SNAP, Montana offers programs like WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) and TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). For more information on these programs and to determine eligibility, visit the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services.
