Navigating Ohio's Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) system can be complex. To assist, here's an overview:

Check your EBT balance and get cash back on your benefits with the Benny App.
Understanding the Ohio Direction Card
The Ohio Direction Card functions similarly to a debit or credit card, loaded with food stamps and/or cash benefits. It's accepted at authorized stores. Upon approval for benefits, you'll receive this card. For assistance, contact Ohio's EBT customer service at 1-866-386-3071.
Applying for Food Stamps
The most straightforward method to apply for food stamps is online through the Ohio Benefits portal. Alternatively, you can apply in person by reaching out to your local County Department of Job and Family Services or calling the Ohio SNAP hotline at 1-866-244-0071.
Renewing Your Food Stamps
It's crucial to renew your food stamps before your certification period ends, which typically ranges from 6 to 12 months for most Ohio households. Confirm your specific certification period with your caseworker.
EBT Deposit Schedule
Benefits are distributed over the first 20 days of every month, based on the last digit of your case number. For example, if your case number ends in 0, benefits are available on the 2nd of the month.
Reporting Changes
To report changes such as income adjustments, household size, or address updates, contact your local County Department of Job and Family Services or call the Ohio SNAP hotline at 1-866-244-0071.
Replacing a Lost or Stolen EBT Card
If your EBT card is lost or stolen, immediately call the Ohio EBT customer service at 1-866-386-3071 to report it and request a replacement.
Additional Benefits
Beyond SNAP, Ohio offers programs like WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) and TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). For more information on these programs and to determine eligibility, visit the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
